In November 2021, for the first time, the UK hosted the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), which was a key moment in tackling the global climate crisis. Undoubtedly climate change is one the greatest challenges of our time and any attempt by countries to scale back their ambitions will have devastating consequences. Those consequences will be felt most keenly by communities in developing countries whose health, livelihoods and very future is intrinsically connected to their environment.

To mark this key moment, we held a special ITL virtual panel event, where colleagues who attended COP26 shared their thoughts on the outcomes of the conference and highlighted how climate change impacts the communities Christian Aid is working with. Sharing stories from In Their Lifetime programmes, past, present and planned, the event offered the opportunity to hear from Christian Aid subject-matter experts, colleagues in-country and ITL supporters about how the programme has been at the forefront of innovation in climate justice, and driving improved solutions to the climate crisis.
