As part of our plans for 26th COP Climate Conference, Christian Aid is working hard to encourage communities, organisations and leaders to take action on climate change. We also want to ensure voices from the Global South who are too often underrepresented in debates are brought to the fore and amplified at this pivotal time.
This is why we have decided to hold a service of solidarity, which will shine a light on those hardest hit by climate change and call on our supporters to pray for and reflect on climate justice. The focus of the event will be on communities on the front line of the climate crisis in the Amazon rainforest who play a key role in tackling the climate crisis by working as shields against deforestation and devastation Christian Aid has been working closely with these communities to empower them to challenge unjust systems, increase access to their lands and to strive for social, climate and economic justice.
The service will include prayers and reflections from Christian Aid's Chief Executive, Amanda Mukwashi, and our Head of Nations and Church Relations, Sally Foster-Fulton. Representatives from the communities themselves will also be joining us virtually directly from the Amazon.
Following the event there will be a reception with light refreshments and an Amazon photo exhibition for you to enjoy. Do be assured that social distancing will be in place in line with Scottish Government guidance as well as a Test and Trace system.
