On the 26 January Christian Aid welcomed around 100 supporters to a special event on the theme of Economic Empowerment, at the House of Lords in London. The event was hosted by Lord Michael Hasting and attended by our CEO, Patrick Watt, and Chair, Dr John Sentamu.
The event helped to connect guests to our work around the globe and encouraged them to make a financial commitment, as well as involve their networks in supporting In Their Lifetime (ITL) and other areas of Christian Aid’s work. Among our special guests and speakers was Susan Chimbayo, the chair of the Nandolo Farmers Association in Malawi. She spoke about the pigeon pea programme there that helps to move farmers from ‘hand-outs’ to ‘handshakes’, as they improve their food security and livelihoods through the Association’s support.
The speakers expressed their heartfelt thanks for the support given to make this work possible.
Going forwards we very much hope we can count on our ITL supporters as we launch our ‘Markets and Livelihoods’ funding round for the programme.
