Christian Aid Week 2023 has now come to a close - a huge thank you to all who took part
This Christian Aid Week we stood in solidarity with farmers like Jen and Esther in Malawi and were inspired by the small but mighty pigeon pea. Around Scotland, more than 50 fundraising events took place in addition to Christian Week church services and collections. Thank you for your amazing energy and determination this year!
Scotland’s ‘biggest charity book sale’ returned once again (for the 51st time!) at St Andrew's and St George's West Church in Edinburgh and we thank all the volunteers involved and the many people who turned up to buy books. And there were successful book sales too at Holy Corner in Edinburgh, Falkirk Trinity, and at Fountainhall Church and Christian Aid Group Book Sale in Aberdeen.
Plant Sales
One of the most popular events during Christian Aid Week this year were the many plant sales held by various churches across Scotland. This was a great way to fundraise for Christian Aid, particularly for those who love gardening. It was also a great way to buy a gift for a loved one. Coffee Mornings
There were many coffee mornings that took place over Christian Aid Week - kindly organised and hosted by churches and supporters. This was a great way not only to raise money for Christian Aid, but to catchup with friends and family over a hot drink or some delicious food. Pictured is the popular Buchlyvie Blether lunch.
Quiz Fundraisers
Some other successful events this Christian Aid Week included an array of quiz fundraisers. Our plant-themed quiz was used by many to put people to the test, raise money, and have fun. Christian Aid Week Services
Thanks to all the churches who hosted a Christian Aid Week service or collection. Our Campaigns and Advocacy officer, Lucy, was delighted to speak at Dunblane Christian Aid Group’s Ecumenical Christian Aid Week service and share our Loss and Damage resources, including the 'prayer people'.
Musical Events
Throughout this fantastic week, our supporters also had the pleasure of listening to some good music! Featured here are musicians from the picnic that took place at Allan Glen Rugby Club, as part of a Christian Aid Week fundraiser by Cadder, Kenmure, and Springfield Christian Aid Group.

Wear Red Wednesday
The Christian Aid Scotland team got into spirit of Christian Aid Week by taking part in 'Wear Red Wednesday' - a chance to dress up in this vibrant colour and fundraise during Christian Aid Week.

We also couldn’t resist trying out some of the recipes featured in the Nandolo Farmer Association’s pigeon pea recipe book and in the run up to Christian Aid this week, we had a shared pigeon pea themed lunch featuring delicious curries, dahl and pigeon pea bread - try out your own recipe here.
