It was truly wonderful to meet with such warm supporters and thank them for all that they do for Christian Aid.

Christian Aid Scotland's Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer, Lauren Petherbridge, recently visited Orkney to meet Christian Aid supporters and thank them for all the brilliant ways they've raised money for Christian Aid this year.

Her trip included meeting up with the Kirkwall Christian Aid Group and friend of Christian Aid, Lord Jim Wallace.

A huge thanks also to the Blue Door charity shop, through which the Kirkwall Christian Aid Committee raised £2491.52. The total amount raised this year by the committee during Christian Aid Week was £5455, the most raised by the group since 2019.

As part of her tour, Lauren also visited East Mainland Church of Scotland.

She said: "Supporters for Christian Aid are widespread across Orkney and there are so many creative and original ways that people are getting involved in supporting us; from filling up Smartie tubes with small change, to cookery demonstrations and selling framed photographs of Orcadian scenery."

Lauren also visited Stromness Church and Milestone Community Church - a great way to see Orkney's beautiful sights, while also meeting with supporters.

"We had the opportunity to meet some of our wonderful supporters in Orkney this summer and chat with them about our work."

Pictured is a beautiful tapestry from Lauren's visit to Milestone Community Church - an example of the beautiful work created by churches across the island.

"Our whistlestop tour included visiting Kirkwall East Church linked with Shapinsay".

"We also recorded a short interview on BBC Radio Orkney for their ‘moved by music’ programme which will air later in the autumn."
