How's this for an inspiring fundraising story? A recipe book that raises more than a thousand pounds.

The Salvation Army congregation in Hamilton (near Glasgow) were disappointed not to do their annual church café for Christian Aid Week last year, so they put together a recipe book instead.

They charged people £5 for the honour of having a recipe included, got it professionally bound (looks like one of our old appeal photos on the cover), and then sold it in November and December – marketed as a Christmas gift.

All together they raised £1,400 for the worlds most vulnerable people!

Pictured above left to right are Christine Young, who typed up and compiled the recipe submissions, Flora Smeaton, who is the SA rep to the local CA committee and dreamed up the idea, and then local Officer, Captain Wendy Leisk.
