Peacemakers

We are called to be peacemakers

Something to read

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

- Matthew 5:9.

Something to think about

On this Remembrance Day, let us take note that Jesus says it’s the peacemakers, not the peace lovers, who are called children of God.

It’s easy to be a peace lover and want to be left in peace, leaving the work to others.

It’s much better, and harder, to be those who actively seek to make peace for others, even at the cost of one’s own peace and comfort.

Something to do

Use our Siblings of Shalom theology resource on peacebuilding to help inspire and encourage your peacebuilding in the world.

Something to pray

Lord, we pray for those who are seeking to be peacemakers around the world. Help us to make our homes and workplaces into places of peace and not conflict, where we lay aside our own comfort for the sake of real peace for others.
