Presence
We can make God’s presence felt
Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them; who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry
Something to think about
The psalmist advises against putting ‘trust in princes’ and urges the listener, and thus all of us, to rely on the God of Jacob who created our world. The God who continues to be actively part of our world. The God who is with us and within us. The God who feels compassion towards all, particularly those who are oppressed.
Today’s psalm is a call to each one of us to strive for justice. Each one of us, can recognise, acknowledge and declare that we need to work towards creating a world where there is enough food for all.
Christian Aid works with those who experience drought and floods all over the world. Drought and floods mean severe disruption to livelihoods and destroyed crops and food sources. So, let us work with farmers to provide materials and methods which improve irrigation and prepare for future flood events. And in so doing, we can make God’s presence felt and known in our world today and every day.
