The Wales launch of the strategy

At a time of increasing political and environmental instabilities around the world, Christian Aid has launched a new global strategy. It expresses our commitment to building a world free from poverty, where global resources are equitably shared and sustainably used; and where the voice and agency of the poor is fully realised.

In a special event in Cardiff this Spring, Christian Aid Chief Executive, Amanda Mukwashi, Christian Aid Chair of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Rowan Williams and Welsh Government Minister for International Relations and the Welsh Language, Eluned Morgan AM reflected both on the challenges of our times and on the difference we can all make in Wales by working in partnership with others around the world.

It was an exciting evening, where over three hundred people gathered together including Christian Aid’s Directors and Trustees, Christian Aid Wales’ National Advisory Committee members, church leaders and representatives across our sponsoring churches, Christian Aid local organisers & church reps, as well as representatives from across government and the international development sector in Wales.

The following short films – produced for us by Rhodri Darcy of Undeb Annibynwyr Cymru – provide a flavour of the evening, as well as the powerful addresses by our three speakers.

As we are inspired by these films, let us think how we can make a difference in this world.

You can read our Global Strategy in Welsh and English here. But we believe that there is little point in having text on a page unless there are people to implement the vision! Your partnership with us is vital if we are going to see a world without poverty. As individuals, churches and communities in Wales, let’s consider deeply how we can take hold of this new strategy and contribute to this ambitious work of eradicating extreme poverty worldwide.
